Monostotic Fibrous Dysplasia and Ichthyosis Vulgaris ------ A Rare Association

چکیده
Fibrous Dysplasia of bone is an uncommon congenital skeletal disorder that is found equally in both genders and is not inherited. Fibrous Dysplasia is characterized either monostotic or polyostotic, and may occur as a component of McCune Albright Syndrome or the rare Mazabraud Syndrome. Long bones, skull bones and ribs are most commonly affected bones. We present a case of a 18 years old boy having pathological fracture of right shaft femur due to Fibrous Dysplasia associated with Ichthyosis Vulgaris. Clinicoradiological examination further established our diagnosis. Biopsy stated delicate trabeculae of immature bone, with no osteoblastic rimming, enmeshed within a bland fibrous stroma of dysplastic spindle shaped cells without any cellular features of malignancy.

Fibrous dysplasia of the inferior turbinate.
Fibrous dysplasia (FD) is a benign skeletal disorder in which abnormally overgrowing bony lesion replaces normal bone. FD can affect one bone (monostotic form) or multiple bones (polyostotic form). The craniofacial bones are involved in about 10% of subjects with monostotic FD. However, its occurrence in the sinonasal tract is very rare. We report a case of monostotic FD developed only in the i...

Fibrous dysplasia is a common benign skeletal lesion that may involve a single bone or multiple bones. Although fibrous dysplasia can affect any bone, monostotic fibrous dysplasia of the long bone typically occurs in the diaphysis or metaphysis. We report a very rare case of monostotic fibrous dysplasia involving the epiphysis of the distal femur in a young man.

Fibrous dysplasia is a benign fibro-osseous lesion of the bone that commonly affects the jaws with a higher prevalence in the maxilla than the mandible. It is a lesion of unknown etiology, uncertain pathogenesis, and diverse histopathology. Fibrous dysplasia can involve multiple bones (polyostotic) or a single bone (monostotic). It represents about 2 to 5% of all bone tumors and over 7% of all ...

Aim. Fibrous dysplasia is a rare bone disease caused by missense mutation leading to abnormal fibroblast and osteoblast proliferation and increased bone resorption. FD can present in monostotic or polyostotic forms. About 3% of FD could be in association with McCune-Albright syndrome (MAS). Because FD is a rare disease, there is limited data in the literature about characteristics of disease an...

Fibrous dysplasia involving the thoracic spine is very rare. This patient had monostotic fibrous dysplasia involving the vertebral body, posterior elements, and right seventh rib with focal neurologic signs. The radiographic and bone scan findings are shown. The patient was treated successfully with tumor resection and arthrodesis using combined anterior and posterior approaches. Although fibro...
